Discord is a great place to host an online classroom. Channels are easy to navigate, and can be customized for more specific communication (e.g. small group work) within the larger group. Voice channels that offer audio-only or video chat options can be synced to text channels. Channels can be locked to certain group members, meaning we could set up a forum just for students without them having to switch platforms. Plus there are a bunch of customizable features (e.g. bots that play Spotify channels on request) to make spending time in the program's Discord more fun.

We set up tons of channels in Discord to keep things organized. Some channels hosted more serious discussion related to lectures or our daily journal club. Others were a place to hang out on breaks - a channel dedicated just to wild pictures and videos of animals or one just for students hidden from directors and mentors.

Students could reference everything throughout the program, and we kept the Discord live after SNP ended so that everyone could more easily stay connected into the new school year.
